they all know it's a crying shame

donovan may or may not have known much about rimbaud, who's use of the word redskins in what may be considered his most classic poem demonstrates that even as he had the right idea, unleashing the shackles of the mind by opening the door to every possible experience no matter how society may view it, no matter how dangerous, no matter the outcome, he was still trapped in his own times, and yet reaching, like rimbaud, donovan definitely had enough of a grasp on the madness of the modern culture to write some words that express what i consider my understanding... as the who said, messiah's point to the door but no one has the guts to leave the temple... while some have risked everything (and died in the process), it may be that no one has the courage or awareness or whatever else it takes to actually open their mind to the infinite possibilities beyond the traps of the limited knowledge and accepted truths and traumas and beliefs of their culture in their moments on this planet, plane, life, or whatever we might call this experience... and as john said, god is a concept...

meanwhile, in other affairs of the heart, mind, and imagination, who cares?...
